Volkswagens have always been known for their unique styling, must-have technology, and comfortable interiors. One of the most popular vehicles in the Volkswagon lineup is 2020 Jetta at Crain Volkswagen of Fayettevillethe Jetta sedan. Jetta lovers got a big surprise last year when they were able to choose between the Jetta and the Jetta GLI. Both models became so popular that Volkswagen continued both in their 2020 lineup. So, how do you decide which model is best to suit your lifestyle? Look below to see how the two stack up against each other.

Engine Power

One of the most distinctive differences between the Jetta and Jetta GLI is what is located beneath the hood. The new 2020 Jetta sports a 1.4-liter I-4 turbocharged engine that outputs up to 147 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. The GLI features a more powerful 2.0-liter I-4 TSI engine that pushes an impressive 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Keep in mind though that with more power comes higher fuel usage, which makes the VW Jetta more fuel-efficient than the VW Jetta GLI.

Performance

When it comes to performance, both vehicles offer features that provide a smoother ride and better handling, even along winding roadways. Both offer a six-speed manual, but the Jetta offers an eight-speed automatic as well. The Jetta GLI offers a sportier transmission option: a seven-speed direct-shift gearbox.

The transmission option is not the only performance feature that makes the GLI the sportier of the two. It also has an DCC adaptive chassis control, a dual-clutch transmission, performance brakes, and a VAQ limited-slip front differential. All these features create a more responsive and controlled handling experience even when cornering.

Technology and Interior

When it comes to interior comfort and technology features, both vehicles have similar options, with the primary difference being whether or not they are standard or optional add-ons. Both cars feature the same amount of passenger and cargo space and feature soft leather seating options, ambient lighting, drive mode selection, and an available panoramic sunroof. All of the interior cabin amenities are designed to work together to provide a comfortable ride that can help you stay connected.

When it comes to technology, both vehicles have the latest technology to provide added convenience, whether you are driving your car on long road trips or your daily commute. Each vehicle offers driver personalization, allowing you to store up to four personal driver profiles where various settings and preferences can be remembered. The App-Connect features allow you to plug your phone or smart device in, so you can stay connected to your music, contacts, and navigation.

Safety

Both vehicles feature a number of active and passive safety features to help protect you in the event of an accident and help prevent you from getting into one, as well. Along with a multistage air bag system, both the Jetta and GLI include driver’s assistance features such as a blind spot monitor, front assist, and a rear traffic alert.
