If you’re looking for some fun places to visit for a great day out in Fayetteville, AR, there is a wide variety of interesting things to do that are guaranteed to make the whole family happy. Let’s see what the beautiful city of Fayetteville has to offer.

3 Fun Places in Driving Distance of Fayetteville, AR

Botanical Garden of the Ozarks

Spend the day at the Botanical Garden, located at 4703 North Crossover Road. You’ll really enjoy your journey there in your stylish and fun-to-drive new all-electric Volkswagen ID.4. More than 70,000 visitors every year flock to see the spellbinding natural beauty of the enthralling twelve gardens, each with its own unique theme.

Some of the gardens on offer include the Children’s Garden, the Japanese Garden, and the Sensory Garden. There is also an enchanting butterfly house, showcasing native butterflies of all colors and patterns. You can support the gardens in their quest to monitor the behavior, diversity, and health of our winged friends by recording their color, size, and actions (sitting, eating, flying) onto a monitoring card and submitting it before you leave.

Wilson Park Pool

Sitting in the midst of Wilson Park is the city’s only outdoor municipal swimming pool, shaded by surrounding trees and wildflowers. Hours of fun can be spent with friends at the pool, which can be found at 675 North Park Road. The pool offers open swims, family swims, and swims for adults only.

It costs only $3 for a youth, $4 for an adult, and $8 for a family day ticket, and there are additional savings to be made if you buy a bulk package like the punch pass that gives you 10 visits for $35. There is also the option to rent out the whole pool after hours for a private party with up to 400 guests. Also available are Dive-In Movie nights, where you can watch a movie at night while making full use of the pool.

Arkansas Air Museum

Located at 4290 South School Avenue, the Arkansas Air Museum was originally an aircraft hangar that housed planes in 1943. The Hangar was donated to the city in 1944, at which point, Fayetteville Flying Services moved their planes in. It functioned as an operating hangar until it was converted into an aviation museum in 1986. Years later in 2007, the Arkansas Military Museum was built next door until they merged together in 2012.

At the museum, you can get up close and personal with an Aeronica L-3 observation plane and racer planes that date back to before World War II. You can also view 15 military vehicles, including Willy’s Jeep, two half-ton cargo trucks used in Desert Storm, and a WWII II WC-54 Ambulance. Fourteen airplanes are in the process of being restored but remain open to the public. You can also view smaller exhibits like gas masks and WWII German daggers.

These three suggestions are all great examples of a fantastic day out in Fayetteville. Immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the Botanical Gardens, take a refreshing dip at Wilson Park Pool, or visit the fascinating artifacts on display at the Arkansas Air Museum. Then, come to see the wonderful range of Volkswagen cars on offer at Crain Volkswagen of Fayetteville. We promise you won’t be disappointed.
