A Safer Drive with Car-Net
Car-Net is Volkswagen’s in-car infotainment system that connects your vehicle to the digital world. Recent upgrades have added two new safety features: H.E.L.P. Alerts and Road Awareness Alerts. These features are available in most 2024 and 2025 Volkswagen models with a Car-Net Safe & Secure subscription. The best part? Volkswagen is offering these alerts for free for the first five years of your subscription.

Hazard Enhanced Location Protocol Alerts: A Lifeline for Disabled Vehicles
H.E.L.P. Alerts is a safety feature that automatically activates when your vehicle’s hazard lights are on or the airbags deploy. This alert sends a signal to nearby vehicles, warning them of a potential hazard. By alerting other drivers, H.E.L.P. can help reduce the risk of secondary accidents.

Road Awareness Alerts: A Heads-Up for the Road Ahead
Road Awareness Alerts provide real-time information about potential hazards on the road. This includes disabled vehicles or emergency response vehicles. These alerts appear directly on your car’s dashboard, giving you extra time to react safely. By being aware of potential dangers, you can make informed decisions and avoid accidents.
The Power of C-V2X
The technology behind these advanced safety features is called cellular-vehicle-to-everything, or C-V2X. This technology allows your Volkswagen to “talk” to other vehicles and emergency services. By sharing information about your location and status, C-V2X activates real-time alerts. This, in turn, can help prevent accidents.

Frank Weith, VW’s Director of Engineering Connected Services, said these new features align with the company’s commitment to being a leader in vehicle safety.
“By working with Emergency Safety Solutions to implement H.E.L.P., Volkswagen continues to deliver on our mission to help make roads safer and lead the way in automotive safety technology,” states Weith. “As the first OEM to adopt H.E.L.P.® Digital Alerts, this demonstrates the capability and flexibility of our Connectivity Platform in being able to quickly implement new technologies with innovative partners.
