Kelley Blue Book

Mike Danger with Kelley Blue Book had the chance to preview the ID.Buzz earlier this year and gives his thoughts on this new ride on KBB’s YouTube channel. He notes how retro and simultaneously modern this vehicle feels, taking clear inspiration from the VW Minibus with its “air vent” stylings, paying homage to the original’s cooling slots. He also mentions the EV’s short overhangs, long wheelbase, and illuminated VW badge on the front, providing modern design elements.

“The large 20-inch aerodynamic wheels give it some style, and the LED light treatment in the front and back give it some modern flair,” Danger says. He notes that the three-row version the US is getting will be almost 10 inches longer than the two-row European version from 2022 while also offering more horsepower and a larger battery, with a 91-kilowatt-hour battery and up to 330 horsepower with AWD.

“This bus rides on Volkswagen’s MEB platform with a low-mounted battery pack that not only saves space but also gives it a low center of gravity,” Danger notes. He also points out that, like the original minibus, the powertrain is in the back of the vehicle.

“I’ve gotta admit, the ID.Buzz has charm. From its mini easter eggs to the functionality of the interior, you can tell a lot of thought went into reinventing the VW icon and will look to spark up some interest with older and younger buyers.”

Edmunds

Lauren McCay also got a first look at the ID.Buzz back in June and gave her thoughts on Edmunds‘ YouTube channel. She notes how roomy the back row is, how easy it is to get in and out, and some features you can find there.

“There’s a lot of space,” McCay says. “…it is pretty comfortable. You can easily fit two adults back here for a long period of time.” She notes features like the USB-C charging port and excellent leg and headroom.

“It’s a decent place to enjoy a nice little road trip,” states McCay. She goes on to talk about the ID.Buzz’s comfortable second-row seating with features like heated seating, climate control, and another USB-C charging port.

“One thing that’s always been unique about VW buses is that there’s nothing else like it on the road,” McCay says. “It’s retro and also modern all at the same time.”
