Car and Driver recently named six Volkswagen vehicles as the magazine’s Editors’ Choice list for 2024.

Volkswagen Golf GTI
The first on the list is VW Golf GTI! This vehicle was listed in the Sport Compact Car category. The Car and Driver team notes that the Golf GTI has an eager engine and a balanced chassis while offering a four-door hatchback versatility. They state that this hot hatch continues to thread the needle between fun, value, and practicality.
Volkswagen Golf R
Also listed in the Sport Compact Car category is the Golf R! The reviewers highlight that this hatchback offers exceptional performance and is highly entertaining to drive while having hatchback practicality. They note that this vehicle has a lot of bang at a premium price.
Volkswagen Jetta GLI
The final VW vehicle in the Sport Compact Car category is the Volkswagen Jetta GLI. The team praises this sedan’s confident handling and supple ride and points out that this car offers a manual transmission, concluding that this car is one of the last fun-to-drive sedans in the US market you can find for under $30,000.

Volkswagen ID.4
The Car and Driver staff listed the VW ID.4 in the Electric SUV category. They note that the vehicle’s cargo space offers plenty of room, excellent comfort, a battery with a realistic driving range, and is available at a reasonable price.

The VW Taos ranked in the Subcompact SUV category. Car and Driver’s staff state that this vehicle is roomier than its rivals, offers ample trunk space, and is more fuel efficient than expected. They conclude by noting its small stature impresses with enough cabin space.
Car & Driver’s Best Compact SUV
Volkswagen Tiguan
Car and Driver placed the VW Tiguan in the Compact SUV category, highlighting its spacious seating and capability. They remark that the powertrain offers ample performance while offering a spacious front and second row and still managing to include a third. They end their overview by pointing out Tiguan’s crisp handling and purposeful style.
